Preferred Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Treatment Program

Adolescents who have been struggling with mental, behavioral, or psychiatric health challenges can receive expert care via the adolescent inpatient program at Rio Vista Behavioral Health. The adolescent inpatient program at our location in El Paso, Texas, is a short-term experience that will prepare you or your loved one for long-term success.

At Rio Vista Behavioral Health, we are pleased to offer inpatient programming for adolescents ages 11-17 (please note that patients who are 18 years old will be admitted to our adult program, even if they are in high school).

Adolescence is a challenging life stage, full of the trials of exiting childhood and entering young adulthood. These challenges can feel insurmountable to a young person if they are suffering from an untreated mental health condition. Home life, educational access, peer relationships, and self-esteem can all be negatively impacted by this type of concern. But fortunately, with proper help, sustained recovery is entirely possible.

The adolescent inpatient program at Rio Vista Behavioral Health takes into account the ways that physical, mental, emotional, and social development can play a role in a young person’s recovery. Changing bodies, evolving social connections, hormonal fluctuations, and many other factors related to adolescence must be considered when creating an effective plan of care. In addition, adolescents rely on the safety and stability of the family unit. Therefore, loved ones and family members are encouraged to play an active role in each young person’s recovery experience at Rio Vista Behavioral Health.

When an adolescent is experiencing acute symptoms of mental health concerns such as trauma, mood instability, anxiety, psychosis, substance use, or other behavioral concerns specific to the adolescent population, we are here to help. Our expert clinical team understands the unique needs of young people in recovery and works to ensure that each young patient in our care has their needs met during their time in our program.

Just like with the adult population, young people can suffer from conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, oppositional and conduct disorders, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. However, the ways that symptoms manifest in adolescents might not be congruent with an adult presentation of the same condition. The Rio Vista Behavioral Health team works to ensure access to developmentally appropriate interventions for each young person who seeks to heal with us.

Prior to discharge, all patients and families will be provided with a thorough aftercare plan that outlines recommended next steps for continued success in recovery. This could include all types of supports depending on the needs of the individual, and we’ll be sure that all referrals reflect the patient’s goals.
